To educate, promote and support drug-free youth who care for the safety and health of self, peers, family and community and collectively works towards its attainment.

ABOUT US:

D.A.R.E (Drugs, Addiction, Recovery, Empowerment), Youth Programs,  is the Southern Cape’s new, dynamic and community driven organization devoted to drug abuse and violence prevention through education.

Meet the team:

Muneera Mohammed - CEO, and Clinical- and Neuro psychologist. Specialist in the field of Drug and Alcohol rehabilitation. She is also actively involved in Public Relations, Networking and Organisational development.

Morne Pietersen - Director, and Eden Fm Radio Station Manager. Morne is a qualified Biology/Science teacher and taught for ten years. Thereafter Morne joined Equilibrium in 2002 where he has honed his training and developments skills with youth as well as corporates, which makes him one of the most versatile and skilled trainers in South Africa.

Heindrich Terblanche - Project co-ordinator.  He currently holds a three (3) year degree in Psychology and a three (3) year degree in Social Work.  Heindrich joined our team in May 2009 and is currently running four (4) projects aimed at youth development, which include:  The September Holiday Project; Schools Project (where D.A.R.E. does awareness and prevention programs); Youth Crime Watch; and Lay Councilor training aimed at youth.

Brandon Baartman - Facilitator and counselor. Brandon is a former inmate of George Correctional Services who has been successfully rehabilitated and is currently at D.A.R.E. He joined our team in April 2009.  Brandon is participating in school programs run by the D.A.R.E. At the schools, Brandon talks about the mistakes he has made in the past and the road that took him to prison.  He motivates the youth to stay out of trouble and to remain drug free.
